We are the people behind the agency: Bob, Lisa, Bert, and the crew. Bob bought the Horn Insurance Agency back in 1977 and kept the names, because that is who we are. Local folks who answer the phone when you call.
The story
Bob bought the agency in 1977, and kept the names on the door.
The Horn Insurance Agency had been part of downtown Jerseyville for forty years before Bob Whitworth bought it in 1977. He did not scrap the name and start over. He kept the Horn and Goetten names because the work was already good, and the trust was already earned.
That decision says a lot about how we do things. We are not a startup with a slick brand. We are a continuation of the insurance work that has been done on this ground for the better part of a century. When you walk in or call, you are talking to the same kind of people who have handled Jersey County’s coverage for generations.
Nearly fifty years later, the counter still works the same way. Bob is still the President. The phone still gets answered by a real person who knows the county, not a call center in another state. And we still write insurance the way we always have: neighbor to neighbor, no runaround.
How we got here

The name changed hands, but the work never left downtown Jerseyville. Here is the short version.
Horn Insurance opens downtown
The Horn Insurance Agency sets up in downtown Jerseyville and spends the next forty years covering Jersey County families, farms, and businesses.
Bob Whitworth buys the agency
Bob buys the forty-year-old Horn Insurance Agency and forms Whitworth Horn and Goetten. He keeps the Horn and Goetten names, carrying the history forward instead of starting fresh.
Bert joins after Iraq
Bert comes home from serving in Iraq and joins the agency as an agent, adding to a team that already knew the county by name.
Two offices, one crew
We serve Jersey and Greene County from offices in Jerseyville and Carrollton, still independent, still local, still answering the phone ourselves.

Bob Whitworth
President
Bob bought the Horn Insurance Agency in 1977 and has led it ever since. Nearly fifty years in, he still runs the agency the same way: plainspoken, local, and here at claim time.
Lisa Wittman
Administrative Assistant
Lisa keeps the office running and is often the first voice you hear when you call. She previously served on the board of the Jersey County Business Association.

Agent
Bert joined the agency in 2008 after serving in Iraq. He works with our farm, home, and business clients across Jersey and Greene County.
