Medicare, health & life
An impartial local advisor for Medicare, health, and life.
Turning 65 or farming without a work plan? Sit down with a real neighbor who compares several companies and explains it plainly. The same folks who already cover your farm and home.
You don’t have to sort this out alone
Medicare and health decisions are confusing. We make them plain.
Turning 65 brings a stack of mail, a wall of TV ads, and robocalls that all sound the same. A self-employed farm family has no work plan to fall back on. It is a lot to sort through, and most of the voices pushing at you only sell one thing.
We are not one of them. We are independent, so we can compare several companies for you instead of defending a single brand. And we are local. The same agency that has covered farms and homes in Jersey and Greene County since 1977 sits down with you, looks at your situation, and lays out the choices in words that make sense. No hard sell, no runaround.
Timing matters as much as the plan. According to Medicare, the Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 to December 7 each year, the window to join, switch, or drop a plan for the year ahead. We keep an eye on those dates so a deadline never decides your coverage for you.
Most folks who come to us for Medicare or life already know us. We handle their crop, their barn, their home, or their auto. Adding health and life is one more honest conversation with people you trust, not a cold pitch from a stranger in another state.
What we help with
Coverage for the people at your kitchen table.
Health and life cover the parts of your life that matter most. Here is where we can help, and where we will always tell you straight what fits and what doesn’t.
- Medicare Supplement (Medigap). For those turning 65 or already on Medicare, a supplement fills the gaps Original Medicare leaves behind, so a hospital stay doesn’t become a surprise bill. We compare several companies and explain the plan letters plainly.
- Individual & family health. Self-employed farmers and small-business families have no employer plan. We help you find individual and family coverage on your own, and walk the options with you instead of pointing you at a robocall.
- Life insurance. Term or permanent, we help you figure out how much makes sense for your family and your operation, then compare several companies to fit it to your budget.
- Disability, when it comes up. If your income depends on your ability to work, we can talk through options to protect it. We will point you the right direction, honestly, even when the answer isn’t a policy from us.
Independent means impartial. Because we aren’t tied to one company, we can compare several and recommend what actually fits you. If a plan isn’t right, we will say so. That is the whole point of sitting down with a local agent instead of answering an ad.
The Medicare choice most folks ask about
Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage?
Almost everyone turning 65 lands on this one question. Here is the plain-English difference, laid out side by side. Neither is right for everyone, and we will help you decide which fits your health, your doctors, and your budget.
Medicare Supplement (Medigap)
Works alongside Original Medicare and fills the gaps it leaves, so you see fewer surprise bills after a hospital stay. You keep any doctor who takes Medicare, with no network to stay inside. You pay a monthly premium for that predictability. Good fit if you want to keep your own doctors and know your costs up front.
Medicare Advantage
Replaces Original Medicare with a plan run by a private company, often bundling extras like drug coverage. Premiums can be lower, but you usually stay inside a network and pay as you use care. Good fit if you want lower monthly cost and do not mind a network. We compare several companies either way.
There is no one right answer. The choice comes down to your doctors, your health, and how you would rather pay: steady each month, or as you go. Sit down with us and we will walk both paths with you, honestly, and shop the companies so the plan you pick is the best-priced version of it.
